George Eastman's goal was to produce a camera that was easy to use and affordable. Although not a formal student of chemistry, he worked with chemicals and invented his own plates that he recommended to the Anthony company. As a part time job, he worked in a bank; he later quit because he did not get the promotion he wanted. Soon he created the roll film, which was not an immediate success with professional photographers. When he died, he was one of the richest men in the world and the sixth richest man in America.
