The picture of the American gothic is more of a color to me because the women is African American. Also because of the American flag that is in the balk round. The picture of the cleaning women is more of a labor picture because she looks tired and her clothing is dirty. Both of these pictures do have a meaning and in my opinion are very good. :)

Parks and Sander
In theses pictures by Parks and Sander we are comparing the differences in each picture. In parks picture the women looks serious ,dirty and mentally stronger. In Sanders picture the women look tired, dirty, depressed and physically stronger. In Parks picture there are some parts that are in focus and some that are out of focus. In sanders picture it is all in focus. In both pictures the women look like they are very tired ,unhappy and look like they have been through a lot.

The two pictures by Gordon Parks and August Sander are similar in many ways, however they convey two different messages. Parks picture is sending a message about racism, while Sander's message is about overworked laborers. The cleaning lady by Sander is tired, yet determined, and American gothic by Parks the subject is hopeless.
Zack Munoz
In the two pictures by Parks and Sander they pictures appear to be similar but are different in many ways. In Parks picture he photographed a hard working black women and Sander photographed a old maybe german lady working. Parks shows how black people are treated poorly and are made to work doing whatever they are supposed to. Sanders picture show how the old lady is working but she also looks like she gets to sit down and relax for a minuute.

The picture by Gordon Parks is more of a social statement than the picture by August Sander. With the American flag in the background, and the woman with a mop and a broom, it portrays the injustice of society. The one by Sander is more just capturing a little of Germany to be viewed as a normal German woman, with no special meaning.

The photographs are similar in many ways, they are also contrasting. For example, "American Gothic" seems to be the harder worker of the two and more than likely leads a troubled and exhaustIng life just to support her and her family. Where as "Cleaning Woman" seems to be confidant in what she does although she may not make very much fot the effort she puts fourth everyday. Even though these images are still you can differ between the two by knowing the time period and setting.
Robby Foster
Both of the pictures portray the common maid of their societies. Park's photo "American Gothic" however tells of suffering and that the person is the worker that dose all the dirty work that enable those above her to obtain there success. Sander's photo "Cleaning Lady" however comes across as a more of a documentary than a statement. Both tell of how the poor worked and lived but the message they convey are for the most part different.
Serena Allen-"American Gothic" and "The Cleaning Lady"

These two photos, The photograph "american gothic" (left) and "The Cleaning Lady" (right) have some similarities such as they both look very over worked and been through there share of stress. Some differences include the one on the right, the women looks very strong not only physically but mentally also. The one on on the left looks like she has had a hard life and almost as though she has been beaten down.

The photo "American Gothic" by Gordon Parks and the photo "Cleaning Lady" by August Sanders both try to portray the same idea.
They both are pictures of working woman. The differences I see in the 2 is that the photograph by Parks seems to be randomly taken, while Sanders' photo seems to be planned. They both however are real, meaning no makeup was involved, hairstyling, etc. The both show hard working woman on their daily day schedule.

Julia Giese: Parks and Sander
The "American Gothic" by Gordon Parks has noticeable similarities as well as differences from "Cleaning Woman" by August Sander. The photograph taken by Parks depicts a sense of silent anger and apparent discrimination and inequality. While Sander's photograph displays a more depressing atmosphere of a woman with a broom or mop in her hands and a look of defeat on her face. Both photographs exhibit the overworked, underclass and the everyday struggle they must endure to survive.

Sanders is more of a portrait picture in Cleaning Women. Parks is more of a creative random in American Gothic. They both have interesting factors for being such different photographers. Parks was more concerned about making a social statement. Sanders was trying to capture a voice in Cleaning Women, in the image he was trying to portray how women were looked at in the time he captured this portrait.

The two pictures"American Gothic" and "Cleaning Lady" are similar in some ways and different in others. There similar because they both are hard working women who take care of their business. They are different because they are from different parts of the world and are different races.

in these two pictures they appear to be very similar but also different. Parks picture seems to be making a social statement while Sander's does not. Parks has more objects in the picture and Sander's is plain and simple. They both used people that have a cleaning career but have a different ethnicity and story to them.

The photo "American Gothic" by Gordon Parks and the photo "Cleaning Lady" by August Sanders both have a very similar look and style to them. Both photos portray the hardships the two women in the photos face. They both look like hard workers and in turn look overly worked. Both photos are alike but also different. Parks' "American Gothic" shows the racial tendencies in america durring the time the photo was taken. Sanders' "Cleaning Lady" shows the Everyday people in Germany at the time.

The "American Gothic" and "Cleaning Women" are pictures known for their character. They are similar pictures by both women seem to be ladies that clean buildings the one on the right is a German lady that seems to not like what she does but she will do it if she has too. the one on the left seems sad and she dislikes what she is doing. seems to me that she is lower class and a hard worker.
Kara Davis
The two pictures of "American Gothic" and "Cleaning Lady" are similar in a ways that both images show women who are hard working, worn out, and are dedicated to their jobs. The images are different in the fact that one women is an African American and seems to look like she doesn't enjoy working and the other women is German and has the look that she somewhat enjoys working. The worlds that they each live in are probably very different from each other. But even though they have the some differences they are also very similar in many ways.

the difference between these two picture is subtle yet very significant at the same time. the image by Parks seem to portray an unhappy, tired, and beaten down african-american woman. The image by Sander, however, portrays a woman who seems strong, determined, and willed. Parks portrayed negativity in a culture where as Sander portrayed pride.

These two images by Parks and Sander are very similar yet different simoultaneously. At first glance the two seem to depict the same message.however, if you look deeper you find it not so. Parks picture show a worn down women, beaten by the negativity of a community. Sander's image show a women who demonstrates strength and determination.
